A Perfect Match for Valentine’s Day with Radical Expressions
This matching task card activity will be a fun diversion for your Algebra 2 or PreCalculus students. The resource includes 36 task cards to be paired together. Half of the cards have a radical expression, and the other half contains the simplified expression.
Students can show their work for the operations and evaluating their broken heart piece and find their “perfect match.”
Key Concepts:
1. Simplifying roots and radical expressions
2. Multiplying and dividing radical expressions
3. Simplify binomial radical expressions
4. Rationalize radical expressions
Teaching Suggestions:
- Use the set as a group activity for 2-4 per group.
- Use as a Quiz and Trade exercise.
- Use the cards as an independent activity prior to assessing students.
- Use as a warm-up activity in order to pair students for a partner activity.
- Print two pages on one sheet of paper to reduce the size and provide students with a “mini-version” to sort at home.
